My Old Man made sure I was raised on a very consistent diet of Rush Limbaugh, and various accouterments of talk radio show rants and propaganda. I drank more political Kool-Aid during my adolescents then I care to think about. Certainly more then I care to admit publicly.

Sadly during this time I white-washed all Liberals as Democrats, and quantified everyone in this camp as intellectually dishonest. I further labeled all Conservatives as Republicans, and ignorantly declared that these folks were the only hope for humanity.

Then September 11 2001:

Most people look back at that day as a life changing moment, for me, it was a life defining moment. 9/11 fundamentally changed who I am and how I think. I began a journey that day, and it placed me on a road from whence I have vowed to never return. I opened my eyes for the first time and began questioning the status-quo of modern society. I devoured everything I could get my hands on about history, economics, religion, education, politics, law etc. This self discovery process has been painful, confusing, frustrating, lonely and above all brilliantly liberating.

The first of my dogmas to collapse: The two party system, and the fantasy that there is a difference between "R's" and "D's". The institution of money was the next to fall which prompted an epiphany regarding the malevolent nature of government, wars without end, manifest destiny, empire building and on and on.

I listened to as many opposing viewpoints on as many relevant topics as I could. Gradually I became aware that I was adopting a new moral compass based on individual freedoms and responsibility. I discovered and embraced the ideas of Libertarianism long before I discovered the name.
